Branded as the “city that never sleeps,” NYC has so many exciting things happening everyday…but one of the most beautiful and special times of the year has arrived and the city is electric and pulsating with holiday cheer. Below we have listed the top 5 places that are a must see if you are either visiting from out of town or a patron that wants to experience the magic that this city has to offer. Enjoy!

One of the most popular excursions when visiting NYC during the holiday season is the infamous annual tree lighting ceremony. Thousands gather every year not only to watch the majestic tree illuminate the streets of NYC, but also gather to see live performances of some of their favorite performers, which this year included Mary J. Blige, the Goo Goo Dolls and Mariah Carey! This “iconic attraction” will remain lit until January 7, 2014…so those that didn’t get to visit just yet still have a chance to absorb that Christmas magic!

The most well-known ice-skating rink is of course at…Rockefeller Center! Grab your friends and family and enjoy a day at the rink under the stars and with the most unbelievable view of NYC’s largest Christmas tree! The rink opens this season at 7AM and is open for skating until January 7, 2014. Some other popular skating rink options are located at Bryant Park & Chelsea Piers.

With over 140 performers, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular is an annual musical show that is presented at the Radio City Music Hall in NYC.  This show has been an iconic NYC tradition for over 40 years, with dances by the worldwide known Rockettes, as well as original music and performances that will capture the hearts of Christmas lovers worldwide.  Shows are running until December 30, 2013 and are available on www.radiocity.com.

First debuted in 1954, and based on the story of “The Nutcracker & the Mouse King,” 90 dancers transport you through an enchanted story of toy soldiers, ballerinas and the “Land of the Sweets.” Whether it is a first time experience or a regular tradition, families from all over the world fill the theatre at Lincoln Center in NYC to absorb this once in a lifetime magical experience. Showing until January 4, 2014, tickets can be purchased at www.nycballet.com.

It wouldn’t be the official holidays in NYC without the window displays! During the Christmas/New Year’s holiday week, the major department stores create these beautiful window displays for viewers to gather around each year, getting more creative than the next! Don’t miss this year’s displays, which are sure to leave a lasting impression and create beautiful memories for you and your loved ones.
