Disgraced Toronto Mayor Rob Ford isn’t going to let a few hits of crack, talking about oral sex to reporters and knocking over council members stop him. On Thursday the Chris Farley doppelgänger relaunched his bid for re-election, filing nomination papers on the first day for acceptance of nominations. “I’ve got the strongest track record, I’ve been the best mayor this city has ever had,” Ford told reporters. And spokesman Dennis Morris couldn’t think of any reasons why the bumbling mayor shouldn’t run. “What reason is there for him to step aside? I’m not really sure because I don’t think there’s any precedent that anybody must step aside. What if he said, ‘I overindulged in alcohol?’ Is it because alcohol’s legal, crack cocaine isn’t? I don’t really know.” Read about it here…[CBC]

After intense back and forth last year, the century-old Boy Scouts of America will allow openly gay scouts for the first time as of Jan. 1. But that decision doesn’t come without dissent. Those upset by the change have joined socially conservative groups such as start-up Trail Life USA, which says “any sexual activity outside the context of the covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is sinful before God” and runs counter to its core values. And the BSA has taken a financial hit as well. Corporate sponsors are withdrawing their support because of the new decision. Read about it here…[HuffPost]

So this happened. A woman in Michigan who purchased a second-hand couch from Craigslist got quite the surprise when she found a slithering python chilling in the folds of the furniture. Holly Wright said she cleaned the couch and didn’t notice the reptile, but believes lack of food is what prompted it to come out. “It didn’t really react or hiss … It was quite cold in the room, there was no food for the snake and I think it came out of the couch because it was dying,” she said. The snake died before she could get help for it…and yes, they gave it a proper burial. As for the couch, well it’s right on the curb waiting for trash pick-up…in case you’re interested in that type of thing. [WZZM]
