Going green in your home can be just easy as throwing butter on your window. Weird, right? You’d be surprised by how many products you already own are green-friendly. Some green products are even more accessible and useful than common materials. Check out our list of great green products for your home and make sure to add these to your Green Initiative! 

Paper-Based Countertops

Keep it green with paper-based countertops. Most of the countertops are made from non-petroleum recycled sources (excluding the resin), and are pretty durable. Be mindful of the cleaners. Since they aren’t heavy like stone, you don’t have to use an aggressive solution. Some reliable brands include Richlite, PaperStone, and Shetkastone.

Green Glass Cleaner

Green Works is the best company around for green-friendly products. They constantly team up with other companies like Clorox to make effective glass cleaners, detergents and fabric softeners. Some of their ingredients include alkyl polyglucoside, a plant-based agent, boric acid that breaks down protein-based stains, and ethanol, a corn-based alcohol.

DIY Supplies

Water, grapefruits, olive oil and white vinegar serve as the cornerstone of DIY cleaning supplies. We know you already have many of these in your home, so you don’t have to spend much. Use these supplies to clean your bedroom, bathroom and garage. Check out some pointers here.

For those with a green thumb, rubber mulch will save you time and money. Prices vary from $30 to $300 bucks, depending on the project. If you want to spruce up your garden, use mulch to surround your plants for a clean and pretty look.

Recycled Plastic Carpet

For those who want carpet in their homes, recycled plastic carpet is the best option. Recycled carpets contain fibers stronger than regular carpets and have a range of bright and gorgeous patterns.

Beeswax Candles

A misconception with going green is that using candles is an immediate step in the right direction. Wrong. The best way to have a green home are with green candles, like beeswax and soy wax, which come in an array of different scents.
