If you’re planning to have a barbecue this week, you may want to read this first.

Kraft Foods Group Inc. has recalled about 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners because the packages may contain Classic Cheese Dogs made with milk, which is a known allergen.

Classic Cheese Dogs? Now that’s a childhood throwback we aren’t mad about.

But crushing cheese lovers’ dreams everywhere (and the element of surprise), the incorrectly labeled dogs still have to go.

The product labels are incorrect as they do not reflect the ingredients associated with the pasteurized cheese in the cheese dogs, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said in a statement on Sunday.

The products were formulated with milk, which is not declared on the product label, the FSIS said.

The recall is classified a Class I recall – a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.

Fortunately, FSIS and Kraft have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the cheese dogs.

Because cheese is great. Even when it’s in places it’s not supposed to be. But in all seriousness, lay off the Oscar Mayer’s if the allergen could pose a problem for you.
