As we continue to mourn the loss of @badgalriri, Rihanna‘s now-defunct Instagram account, its memory still lives on in our folder of screenshots. Always unapologetic and uncensored, it was a shiny, bright diamond amongst the lumps of coal and other accounts that keep our feeds full of #foodporn and #selfies that might get a reluctant double-tap.
While we’re all hoping the bad gal’s account gets revived, STAT, Tom Ford is realizing there’s some good in it too. Earlier this week in an interview with Style.com, he said that when it comes to fashion, Rihanna’s photos are more influential than anything else:
“Something new is happening that I’m just clueing into now—this probably won’t go down well—but customers don’t care any more about reviews or hard-copy publications. They care what picture Rihanna just Instagrammed while she’s naked in bed, what new shoes she has on, how she’s talking about them. That’s what they respond to.”
And, to be honest, we couldn’t agree more. Whether she’s dressed in designer digs that came “phresh out the runway” or she’s wearing next to nothing at all, RiRi is always fly as phuck, and no one can deny it. Not even the anti-social media designer himself.
