A 14-year-old girl is now living life in a wheelchair with severe brain damage after a 16-year-old teen, who is now in jail, raped and beat her.
According to the Daily Mail, the boy, who isn’t being named, “pounced on the girl” as she was walking through a park, and beat her so badly that she was left unconscious.
The site also reports that the (then) 15-year-old first hit her in the head with a bottle, kicked her repeatedly, and then raped her before she was found and hospitalized.
She has had three operations on her brain since the incident, and is now in a wheelchair with brain damage that leaves her with a much lower brain capacity.
The site reports:
Pleading guilty to rape and grievous bodily harm with intent, he was sentenced to a discretionary life sentence at Luton Crown Court on Friday.
He will serve a minimum of six and a half years in a young offenders unit.
Judge Michael Kay said: ‘Even the most case-hardened judge can be confronted with a set of facts that still have the capability to shock. This is one such case.’
The judge mentioned to the 16-year-old, after describing his actions as “sickening and abhorrent,” that she predicts he will, “spend considerably longer in custody than the minimum term.”
We pray for the 14-year-old girl and her family during this tragic time.
