Puerto Rican designer Luis Antonio, is no newcomer to fashion with his creations seen on the likes of Jennifer Lopez. But for his fashion week debut, instead of getting his feet wet, he took a plunge by drawing inspiration from the sea for his aptly titled “Maritime” show.

Every look spied on the models, who weaved in and out of the maze-like runway, left onlookers completely wowed. Antonio payed homage to his PR roots by incorporating his flag colors of red, white, and blue, within almost every look but not without weaving in a few stripes and other abstract prints.

The designer incorporated the collection’s maritime aesthetic, by using a khaki-hued rope print fabric to create dresses with classic silhouettes. Guests also spied the rope theme in the tie’s used for the strappy heels sported by his models.

Trends Spotted: The patriotic colors of red, white, and blue. Bold oranges. Plunging necklines, abstract prints, midi-skirts, eye-catching sequins and scalloped beading and eyelets.

My Rating: Considering this was Luis Antonio’s NYFW debut, he pulled out all the stops to execute a collection that was nothing short of gorgeous and filled pieces that translate to the masses.

My Favorite Look: One of the final runway looks of a deep plunging neckline sequin jumpsuit, perfectly suited for any silhouette for a glam night on the town.
