What’s black and white with colorful stripes all over?

At Cedar Lake during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, life imitated art—street art, that is. The venue united us all to become part of the “New York Nation,” as assembled by DKNY in the Big Apple, with even bigger and bolder colors and cuts.

An homage to the graffiti-filled city of dreams, there was a display of the kaleidoscope variety, along with stripes, stripes, and even more stripes in shades of red, yellow, and a minty green worn by New York natives who shared the runway with professional models, such as Vashtie and Junglepussy – each a representation of their beloved borough.

Trends spotted: Baby hair will now be a full force in fashion. Yes, baby hair. The models in the show were done up with zig-zagged ponytails and braids, finished off with slicked-down strands to their foreheads.

Faces in the front row: Chelsea Leyland  (DJ), Hannah Bronfman (DJ/Entrepreneur), Kate Lanphear (Maxim EIC), Mia Moretti (DJ), Perez Hilton, Victoria Justice

My rating: Donna Karan once again put on for her city. The collection was as lively in color as it was in prints—and even when there wasn’t any color with all white or black ensembles, the pieces were still just as striking and fun.

My favorite look: The black bralette and skirt combo underneath a mesh dress. Despite this being a collection full of color, all black everything will always win for me. Every single time.
