The New York Police Department is investigating a brutal brawl that broke out on a Washington Square Station-bound F train after a man slapped a woman who was taunting him in the face.

The incident was caught on tape and uploaded to YouTube Saturday. The NYPD, while aware of the fight, have not yet released any details regarding their investigation.

From the NY Daily News:

The video “Man smacks the soul out of girl on the NY Subway” shows a young woman with two female friends egging her on while she verbally abused the lanky man, wearing a leather 8 ball jacket and fur hat.

She can be heard insulting his style sense as he nodded and smiled.

Eventually, the man filming the incident caught the girl’s attention. She jumped up from her seat and knocked the phone from his hands twice.

Then the woman continued to verbally abuse the tall man in the hat.

Eventually, the young woman hits the man again, this time in the back of the head. That’s when he turns around and slaps her in the face. The woman’s friends and a few men on the train join the brawl, sending riders not involved in the scuffle to the other side of the train.

Police have not released the identities of those involved. You can watch the insanity in the video above.
