Though protesters postponed shopping on Black Friday and sales were down by 11 percent, the craziness remained at an all time high.

On Friday, a mother and her newborn baby were assaulted by a man in the Bronx, New York just before 1 p.m.

The woman, Odila Orozco, 24, was carrying a 3-month-old baby when she was kicked in her back by Alonzo Brown, 18, knocking them both on the ground in an attempt to steal her phone.

Surveillance video filmed along E. Tremont Ave. near Bronx Park Ave. in West Farms showed the suspect looking both ways, trying to find a mark, about 12:45 p.m. on Friday.

Suddenly the woman, with her child nestled against her chest in a carrier, passed by. She was also toting a shopping bag. The suspect walked a few paces behind her, according to the video. As she approached a sidewalk scaffold, he broke out in a sprint and kicked her on a run in the back.

The woman, Odila Orozco, 24, fell to the pavement and rolled over, but managed to shield the child as she fell, police said. The suspect grabbed her phone out of her hands after she hit the pavement, and took off running.

The woman and baby were taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

“Everything’s good,” she said in Spanish, according to CBS. “My baby’s good and I’m good.”

As of Monday night, Brown still remains at large. Police ask anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers tipline at (800) 577- TIPS.
