The 2015 Emmy Awards was one of many triumphs and victorious moments. But nothing was as touching as the speech given by the final presenter of the night: Tracy Morgan.
Tracy received a standing ovation from the crowd after appearing on stage to hand out the Outstanding Drama Award. The award show marked the comedian’s first appearance at a Hollywood event since his traumatic highway accident in June of last year.
The funny man got emotional as he prepared to give away the award, tearfully stating:
“Thank you. Thank you so much. I missed you guys so much. It’s been a long road back. I suffered a traumatic brain injury that put me in a coma for eight days. When I finally regained consciousness, I was just ecstatic to learn that I wasn’t the one who messed up.”
He jokingly added:
“Only recently I’ve started to feel like myself again, which means that a whole lot of y’all women are going to get pregnant at the after-party. That’s what’s going down.”
