A 20-year-old former cheerleader and student at Mississippi State University pleaded guilty Tuesday to one charge of federal terrorism after she and her fiancé were arrested last year en route to Istanbul, Turkey in a plot to join ISIS, according to CBS News.

Jaelyn Young, 20, appeared before a federal judge in Aberdeen, Mississippi, and pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to provide material support to a terrorist organization, the report says.

She and her fiancé Muhammad Oda Dakhlalla, 23, both of Starkville, Mississippi, were arrested in August at the airport in Columbus, Mississippi. Dakhlalla pleaded guilty to a similar charge on March 11, the report says:

U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock will sentence the 20-year-old Young at a later date. The former Mississippi State University student faces up to 20 years in prison, $250,000 in fines and lifetime probation.

The daughter of a school administrator and a police officer who served in the Navy reserve, Young is a former honor student, cheerleader and homecoming maid at Vicksburg’s Warren Central High School.

Prosecutors have said Young converted to Islam while studying chemistry at Mississippi State University, led toward ISIS in part by online videos. Like Young herself, prosecutors have said she’s the one who prodded Dakhlalla into the plan to join the terrorists.

At the time of their arrest, the couple reportedly claimed they were getting married and planned to honeymoon in the Middle East.
