Mississippi duo Rae Sremmurd has discovered the cheat code to making hit records, and they’re planning to take over 2016 with an #EarDrummerSummer.
Global Grind caught up with the brothers at Hot 107.9’s #BirthdayBashATL to discuss the arrival of their forthcoming sophomore album, SremmLife 2, creating hit records with Mike WiLL and, of course, penning “Formation” with Beyoncé.
While his brother Swae Lee was the only member to receive an actual writing credit for the hit song, Slim Jxmmi, who presumably had input on the song, also had a lot to say about Queen Bey.
“She’s a beautiful woman and an amazing person,” Slim Jxmmi said. “I’ve never met a celebrity that big that…she’s just a cool person.”
“She a goddess,” Swae Lee added.
The brothers went on to gush about Beyoncé for a few more seconds before fighting with each other over the microphone and leaving us with so many unanswered questions.
We don’t know exactly what inspired two young men from Tupelo, Mississippi to write an anthem for Black women, but we may find out when SremmLife 2 drops on August 12.
