‘Silence Of The Lambs’ Director Jonathan Demme Dead At 73

Oscar-winning Silence of the Lambs director Jonathan Demme has passed away at the age of 73, according to an exclusive report by IndieWire that says he was battling esophageal cancer and heart disease. Demme reportedly died this morning in New York. Not many other details are available at this time but according to the site, “He was originally treated for the disease in 2010, but suffered from a recurrence in 2015, and his condition deteriorated in recent weeks.”
Best known for the classic thriller Silence of the Lambs, the prolific and renowned director also made the 1993 Oscar-winner Philadelphia, The Manchurian Candidate, Beloved and, more recently, the concert documentary Justin Timberlake + The Tennessee Kids. Demme is survived by his wife Joanne Howard and their three kids. May he rest in peace.
