Sure, we have our solidified Black Hollywood legends like Denzel Washington and Angela Bassett — but there’s a new class of up and coming Black actors taking over Entertainment, and they’re bringing their wokeness with them.

Yara definitely won the crown last year as one of the strongest voices of her generation. With her new hit show Grown-Ish making history and her work as an activist changing game, there’s absolutely nothing Ms. Shahidi can do.

Ladies love Kofi, and so does Hollywood. The LA native stole hearts all over America last year with his breakout role in Queen Sugar and hasn’t stopped making the ladies swoon since. We can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this young king.

Lakeith Stanfield

Lakeith Stanfield has been on the grind for many years, but his roles in FX’s Atlanta and the blockbusters hit Get Out has landed him on Black Hollywood’s “It” list. Not to mention he’s even caught the eye of Jay-Z and starred in his visuals for Moonlight.  Lakeith is up next.

Yvonne Orji

Known as Issa Rae’s best friend Molly on Insecure, Yvonne Orji went from working on her comedy career to her character being the face of successful Black women in America. In 2017, Orji experienced a real live dream come true when she opened up for her idol Chris Rock during his North American tour. We love Molly and can’t wait for season 3 of Insecure — but we’re really hype to see what else Yvonne has in store for the new year.

O’shea Jackson Jr.

OJJ’s 2015 break out role portraying his dad, Ice Cube, in the hit film Straight Outta Compton, was all it took for Hollywood to be at the young actor’s every beck and call. O’shea hasn’t stopped working since he hit the scene, and with his new show Den Of Thieves coming soon, Jackson shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Trevor Jackson

The 21-year old Indiana native does it all. He’s a singer, actor, dancer and has a lengthy resume that would put most of his peers to shame. The fact that he’s also an adorable cutie is just the icing on the cake. We see you, Trevor.

Probably the youngest stars on the list, Chloe and Halle have some of the most prestigious Hollywood support on the list. I mean, after all, the 17 and 18 year old are some of the first acts to be signed to Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment company. 2018 will be Chloe x Halle , for sure.
