1. “If any f*g, punk a$$ ni**a come run up on me, trying to touch me on all that gay sh**, I’m letting you know right now — if I ain’t got my gun on me, I’m knocking you the f**k out. If I got my gun on me, I’m shooting you in the f**king face.”

Words literally uttered by Adrien Broner.

Let’s start with the basics.

This statement can be broken down into multiple festering piles of sewage.

Broner made these comments reportedly in response to Andrew C. Caldwell, a.k.a. the man who allegedly turned “straight” in the “I’m Delivert” viral video.

According to TMZ, Caldwell accused Broner of flirting with him, while Broner insists Caldwell is lying. The boxer claims that Caldwell is the one who was trying to shoot his shot.

Broner thus responded to Caldwell in the most terroristic way that can be common among cis-hetero men of the world.

Homophobic slur?

Check.

“Gay sh**” used in a negative connotation?

Check.

And probably the most horrifying part of Broner’s statement came when he literally threatened to kill a gay man if they tried to touch him.

As if gay men spend ninety-five percent of their day figuring out how they’re going to touch straight men.

And though body autonomy is important, one touch does not equal murder.

On a less extreme note, many cis-straight men feel like they’ll have a complete meltdown if another guy hits on them.

A healthy decline or a discussion on how you don’t want to be sexualized will suffice.

Never murder.
