This week (October 25), Netflix announced that the new special from one of the most raved about young comedians in the game, Matt Rife, will debut on the platform next month. Scroll down to check out the trailer and find out when you can expect to watch it.
After having amassed a large social following through his viral content showcasing his quick wit and crowd work, Matt embarked on a sold-out world tour. Now in his first Netflix comedy special Natural Selection, Matt leaves no topic untouched – from crystals to social media trolls – and no audience member spared.
It has been quite the journey for Rife, who spent over 12 years on the road perfecting his craft. He had a stint on Nick Cannon’s Wild ‘n Out from 2015-2017. Since breaking out during Covid and going viral on TikTok (where he has 16.7 million followers and more than 5 billion views), things have been on the up-and-up. In 2021, he self-produced and distributed his first hour long comedy special Only Fans, which has accumulated over 10 million views. Earlier this year, he released Matthew Steven Rife and Walking Red Flag.
Rife’s rise to fame has been remarkable to witness. He announced his ProbleMATTic World Tour earlier this year and sold over 600,000 tickets in a span of 48 hours. This is extremely impressive considering the fact that last summer he struggled to sell a hundred tickets to a show.
Natural Selection, which was filmed in front of a sold out crowd on September 22 and 23 at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC was executed produced by Rife and his manager Christina Shams.
