R&B singer The Weeknd just dropped his first official video, and it’s just as mysterious and strange as we thought it would be.
MUSIC: Drake & The Weeknd “The Ride”
First, the song choice: rather than put something out from his latest mixtape, Thursday, which dropped back in August, The Weeknd went with a track off of his first tape, House of Balloons, which came out in March.
Being who he is, of course, he would go with the darkest sounding song he has ever made, House of Balloons closer, “The Knowing.”
All we have to say is good choice.
VIDEO: Drake And The Weeknd Overdose On That OVO & XO For “Take Care”
The video, which was shot by French filmmaker Miikael Colombu, is a moody sci-fi inspired clip. It contains a lot of emo-futuristic-imagery, which includes death, explosions, lasers, different planets and some kind of tragic lost love.
We think.
Honestly, we’re not sure what the story is, or if even there is a coherent story to be followed here, but it’s cool to look at.
