Is there a bombshell waiting to drop in the George Zimmerman case?

STORY: Holding Back The Tears! Trayvon’s Parents Speak On Chicago Violence

As we’ve continued to see a mountain of evidence emerge in recent days, including Trayvon Martin’s autopsy records, crime-scene photos, interview recordings and police reports, his lawyer insists there’s still a lot we haven’t seen.

Zimmerman defense attorney Mark O’Mara issued a statement saying prosecutors have turned over only “about half” of the evidence gathered so far in the second-degree-murder case against Zimmerman.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, documents filed with the court by both the state and defense are seeking to keep certain records under seal, which offer a peek behind the curtain and preview potentially important evidence.

Legal experts contend however, that it’s very likely there’s a bombshell waiting.

Bill Sheaffer, an Orlando defense attorney and WFTV-Channel 9 legal analyst said:

“I think that we have seen the best the state has to offer to this point.”

When prosecutors released recordings of interviews with witnesses in the case, the voice of the man who fired the fatal shot was notably absent. Zimmerman has given multiple statements to authorities. None have been released.

Special Prosecutor Angela Corey’s office withheld those records, arguing that they fall under a statutory exemption for confessions.

Those statements are likely the most important evidence the public hasn’t seen, Sheaffer said.

Sheaffer continued saying:

“The physical evidence in the case seems to support his story of what happened…That makes the statements of George Zimmerman all the more important.”

Michael Grieco, a Miami defense attorney and former Miami-Dade prosecutor, said Zimmerman’s statements could give the state “a tool to attack his credibility” and weaken his self-defense claim.

Sheaffer agrees:

“Sometimes you say things to the police that you think are helping you, but in reality, they’re not.”

More will come out as both sides continue to discuss the ongoing evidence in the Trayvon Martin case. Stay tuned…
