Kate Upton has come a long way from being a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl. Now she is snagging multiple Vogue covers and leaving naysayers in the dust.

The latest cover Kate donned was British Vogue, but more eloquent than her soft blue and white cover, was the response she gave to the magazine when they asked her about her “unconventional” size as a model and if she considers herself a trail blazer when it comes to fighting body image.

On being a role model:

I never imagined that I would be in a position to be a role model. I just focused on being healthy and being the best that I could be. I’m happy to be seen as a good example. If I can help and influence girls who are going through body-image issues then I think that’s amazing.

On her troubles with sample size:

I’m sure every designer has a certain person in mind who they would ideally like to wear their clothes, but the problem is that a lot of the time that person doesn’t actually exist, unless she is a 15-year-old model. I don’t really have a personal opinion on whether they should change the sizes of samples or not, but I do think it’s a topic that should be looked at, and I do think there won’t be many women buying those clothes, if, size-wise, they don’t seem realistic.

Kate may not be the prototype aesthetic for a scholar, but she was dropping some serious gems with that statement.

While she doesn’t see herself as the one woman army who is going to fight body image issues in the fashion world, that was darn eloquent ammo for the woman out there who would like to spark a body-image revolution.

What do you think of Kate’s response?
