News broke today that Adam “MCA” Yauch of the Beastie Boys has banned any of the hip-hop trio’s music from being used in commercials or advertisements.

Although Adam doesn’t want Beastie Boy music or his likeness used in commercials, he did leave his $6.4 million estate to his wife and daughter to manage and/or sell.
MCA’s will request was quite interesting, but compared to most celebrity wills, MCA’s last wishes weren’t that unusual.

1. American icon Marilyn Monroe allocated all of her belongings and clothes, including her underwear, to her acting coach Lee Stasberg. The will instructed that Lee then distribute her belongings to her friends and family. Lee never gave away Marilyn’s property, instead he stored them in a warehouse until he died. In 1999, his widow then sold all of Marilyn’s property for a whopping $13.4 million. If only Marilyn knew.
2. Alexander McQueen stunned the fashion world when he committed suicide in 2010, but what was even more stunning was McQueen’s will. Alexander left $75,000 of his fortune to his dogs.
3. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry demanded in his will that his body and ashes be scattered in space.
4. The beautiful Farrah Fawcett‘s will left her long time on and off again love Ryan O’Neal out of it. Farrah gave the majority of her fortune to her son, but interestingly enough, Farrah left an ex-lover $100,000.
5. Hungarian-born magician Harry Houdini demanded that his wife Bess conduct a seance every year so he could appear and talk to her. He also left a secret 10-digit code so she’d know it was actually his spirit.
6. Hotel owner/businesswoman and real estate investor Leona Helmsley left $12 million to her Maltese dog, completely cutting off most of her family out of the will. The family disputed the $12 million request and later, a judge reduced the dog’s fortune to $2 million. Leona also had four grandchildren, but only left two grandkids money. She put $5 million worth of money in cash and another $5 million in trusts, but the grandkids were only allowed to receive the money if they visited their father’s grave every year.
7. French military leader Napoleon Bonaparte requested that his head be shaven and his hair be given to his friends and family. Don’t know why he wanted his family to own his hair, but it definitely was a hair-raising request.
8. Pringles founder/owner Fred Baur died in 2008, but he made sure his will included that he wanted to cremated and buried in a Pringles can.
