When alternative rock band The White Stripes announced in February 2011 that they were officially breaking, we just couldn’t understand it.

The now divorced duo, Meg White and Jack White, claimed that the split resulted from a “myriad of reasons – but [was done] mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band.”

Over a year after the shocking split, Jack White is ready to debut his first solo album – Blunderbuss on April 23rd.

The first single – “Love Interrupted” – has finally been released after much anticipation.

The track is rather simple, with a female background singer and an electric and acoustic guitar carrying the majority of the tune.

Over the acoustic track, White repeats “I want love to…” followed by painful ironic desires:

“I want love to / roll me over slowly / stick a knife inside me / and twist it all around.”

“Love Interrupted” is classic Jack and a great re-introduction to the artist we all know and love.
