President Barack Obama is on a European tour this week, making his first stop in Ireland. Along with chilling with the Irish folk, the President will make stops in Britain, France and finish up in Poland.

Obama’s Ireland trip is to promote and celebrate America’s deep ties with the Irish. Obama’s 24-hour stop on the Emerald Isle will also include a visit to Moneygall, the tiny village in Co. Offaly where Obama’s maternal great-great-great-grandfather was born.

There are always new developments when it comes to the President’s lineage and now that he’s in Ireland, he’s sure to dig up more of his roots

U2 frontman Bono is 100% Irish and it’s kind of ironic that Obama is in Ireland and Bono is always at the White House. No doubt if someone does some digging, the two might be kin!

Hollywood hunk George Clooney has Irish decent on his father’s side, so maybe Clooney might share a branch on the Obama family tree.

Robert De Niro is the unknown Irishman, his father is of both Italian and Irish descent. Maybe he and Obama’s great-great-great-grandfather kicked it at one point or another.

Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. learned he was a descendant of an Irish immigrant and a slave girl.
