If Drake was drunk on “Marvin’s Room,” he isn’t drunk now!
Drake’s ex-girlfriend, whose voice is featured on the popular Take Care track, is now suing Drake over royalties.
Drake’s ex, Ericka Lee, filed a lawsuit in California federal court claiming that she and Drake worked on “Marvin’s Room” together and were supposed to split the profits.
Apparently, Ericka hasn’t gotten paid and now Drake has a “case of the ex” problem.
Last year, Drake allegedly agreed to work with Lee on “Marvin’s Room” and split the proceeds. Lee says she was asked to record the song’s “hook” as well as the opening monologue that would serve as the thematic framework for a song about Drake’s yearning for an ex-girlfriend and how his fame interfered with his love life. “Plaintiff’s contribution is highly significant to the overall work,” says the complaint.
Drake has given Lee credit on the album as a “vocalist” on the song under the alias “Syren Lyric Muse,” but that didn’t seem to fix his copyright problem.

Lee headed down to the U.S. copyright office stating: “My works and voice are used on this work.” Cash Money fired back at Lee’s claims with the U.S. Copyright Office by claiming Ericka Lee as an “employee for hire.”
Nonetheless, Drake’s ex is still pissed and she wants more than the 2 percent of publishing royalties Drake was offering.
Lee hired a lawyer, which allegedly caused Drake to make threatening phone calls. “What the f–k is your problem?” he said to her, according to the complaint, then offering her “4-5%” of publishing monies plus a $50,000 payout to go away.
Lee busted out the big guns and hired Neville Johnson, a lawyer who previously sued Drake over unauthorized use of Playboy Enterprises on “Best I Ever Had.”
