Yesterday was a very sad day for all the Barbz out there. As we reported earlier, Nicki Minaj deleted her Twitter account because of a feud with the fan site, Nicki Daily. The website had leaked several songs from her latest album, Roman Reloaded and wouldn’t take them down. Nicki was quite angry and removed her page, leaving her Barbie lovers all over the world extremely disappointed.

However, Nicki is not the only celebrity to go on a Twitter hiatus. Several other celebrities have left Twitter either permanently or temporarily because of personal reasons.

Rapper Kanye West was an avid Twitter user who took a break from the social network, but then came back like he never left with a long rant this past January. Yeezie updated the world on his fashion designs and his visions for the future.

Singer and proud momma Lily Allen also temporarily took a break from tweeting in 2009, tweeting, “I am a neo-luddite, goodbye.” This basically meant that she was an individual who didn’t think technology advances helped people. However, this break didn’t last for too long – Allen now tweets every few days.

Some people on the other hand, go completely cold turkey. Actor James Franco deleted his Twitter permanently because he wanted to have free range on what to write and companies were contacting him about his content. Can you blame the guy for getting frustrated?

Pop star Demi Lovato took two Twitter breaks, one in 2010 and one earlier this year. The 19-year-old singer stopped tweeting earlier this year when she reportedly broke up with her boyfriend at the time. She definitely needed some alone time!

Singer Monica Brown loved the fact that she could connect with her fans on Twitter, but the social network also allowed people to see her page whom she did not want to. In fact, she revealed after leaving Twitter that she actually had a stalker that was keeping up with her activities through her page. Monica handled that that scary situation, because the star started her page back up and is tweeting today.

Even though at one point in time everyone needs a break from Twitter, almost everyone feels the need to get back on it. Twitter allows celebrities to keep up with their fans and get updated on the latest news. Regardless of how famous you might be, you can’t seem to escape it!
