Today, Christopher George Latore Wallace would have blown 40 candles off his birthday cake.
Instead, an entire Hip-Pop community is mourning the anniversary of what would have been Biggie’s crossing into a new decade of his life.

Christopher, more affectionately known as Biggie Smalls or the Notorious B.I.G to his hip-hop compadres and fans, met an early death at the age of 24, thanks to the bullet of a person still unknown.
He was at the height of his budding career.
Since then, CDs have been replaced with MP3s, the sound of hip-hop made a trip Down South and back, and Jay swapped baggy jeans for button ups, but the wound that the music community suffered from the loss of one of the best has still not healed.

Anticipating the celebration of what would have been his 40th birthday, GlobalGrind caught up with his mother, Voletta Wallace, who is doing everything in her power to keep her son’s vibrant memory alive.
