The week feels like it has flown by and it’s already Friday!

Thankfully the weekend is basically here but you have still got the entire day to get through. Luckily we have a few cool things that you can do today that won’t cost you any money at all. In today’s installment of Dollars & Sense we are focusing on activities in Toronto, Canada. Enjoy!

Visit The University of Toronto Art Centre:

This little-known museum on the north side of the University College quad houses the private collection of New York City psychoanalyst Dr Lillian Malcove Ormos. Medieval ivories and a stunning 1538 panel painting of Adam and Eve by Lucas Cranach are on view, though regular exhibits are occasionally pushed aside by traveling shows.

Visit City Hall & Nathan Phillips Square:

Completed in 1966, Toronto’s fourth City Hall was one of the city’s first modernist buildings. The then-mayor Nathan Phillips had held an international competition, won by Finnish architect Viljo Revell. Revell designed the council chamber as a low, round building, embraced by two concave office towers of differing heights. It’s a beautiful structure to tour when you have the opportunity, however only the ground floor is open to the public.

The square succeeds as a genuine gathering place. It’s where Toronto rings in the new year. During the summer it’s busy with concerts, dance performances, the annual Jamaican IRIE Music Festival, the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition and a summer farmers’ market.

Financial Tip Of The Day

Maximize Your Employment Benefits

Employment benefits like a 401(k) plan, flexible spending accounts, medical and dental insurance, etc., are worth big bucks. Make sure you’re maximizing yours and taking advantage of the ones that can save you money by reducing taxes or out-of-pocket expenses.
