Financial Tip of the Day

Invest in a SmarTrip rather than farecard when taking the metro

Using the D.C. metro system as your main source of transportation is not cheap and any way to avoid losing money is always helpful. While farecards seem like the most logical investment for those who will be in the area for a short period of time, they become demagnetized very easily. (Ex. Hold the farecard in the same hand as your cell phone and it can easily lose its value, causing you to need a metro station manager every time you enter the metro.) So to save time and money, get a SmarTrip and make your D.C. metro ride experience smooth sailing.
