The Fast & Furious 7 cast and crew were elated to have Paul Walker’s brothers, Cody and Caleb, on set to finish the film. But they’re not the only ones.
The late actor’s mother, Cheryl Walker, recently told E! she’s “very proud” of her sons for finishing their brother’s work following his tragic passing.
“I’m very proud of them,” she told E! News. “It is bittersweet for them to do this. They are happy to honor their brother and finish the project.”
Cheryl also said that both boys “have had a wonderful time on set and are treated very graciously by the people.” News broke two weeks ago that Cody and Caleb would be filling in for their late brother for a few unfinished scenes.
“Paul had already shot his dramatic scenes and most of his action for Fast & Furious 7, and it’s among the strongest work of his career,” the movie’s Facebook page read. “We have resumed shooting and now welcome Paul’s brothers, Caleb and Cody, into our Fast family. Caleb and Cody are helping us complete some remaining action for their brother and fill in small gaps left in production. Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too.”
Cody also shared the exciting news on his page, writing, “I can now officially confirm what so many have already assumed. FF7 – let’s make it great and make my bro proud.”
In less happy news, no decision has been reached yet in the guardianship case surrounding Paul’s daughter Meadow Walker. Although an agreement was allegedly reached outside of court regarding the guardianship of Walker’s 15-year-old daughter, a court commissioner refused to dismiss the case.
Meadow’s grandmother, Cheryl, petitioned for legal guardianship of her granddaughter months ago. Cheryl reportedly told the courts she believed she should be the one with primary custody of the teen and the $16 million estate she was left.
“It is up to the court to decided whether guardianship case should be granted or denied,” Commissioner David Cowan ruled on Wednesday.
Cowan appointed an attorney for Meadow and ordered an investigation. The findings of that investigation will be shared at the next hearing, which is scheduled for May 28.
A source close to the case tells E! that Meadow feels betrayed by her grandma’s behavior. She also reportedly feels “hurt” and “unhappy” that no one spoke to her about her uncles stepping in to fill her father’s shoes on the Fast & Furious set.
E! News reports that Meadow is not currently living with her mother or grandmother, but rather a family friend.
“Meadow is doing well and still in school and spending time with her friends like any teenager,” the source claims. “She soon hopes to move into a new home in the L.A. area with her mom.”
Those plans may be hindered, however, by court findings. Cowan reportedly decided to further investigate the case because of Meadow’s mother’s current condition.
“I understand the mother is not in condition to take custody,” he said.
Paul’s mother’s attorney reportedly told the court that his client “has great love for Meadow but thinks that moving forward with her petition to become guardian may not be successful.” Sources say that Meadow and her mother were “taken by surprise” by Cheryl’s petition for guardianship.
“From what I know, she has never once been incapable of not taking care of her children,” the source said. “Rebecca is a great mother and Meadow is a very happy child. Their relationship is excellent.”
In other news, Paul Walker’s car collection is officially up for auction.
But don’t get too excited, Fast & Furious fans. According to TMZ, the estate will not use Paul’s name in connection with the sale. Sources tell TMZ, Paul’s car shop, Always Evolving, is working with the estate for the sale of his belongings. The sale is currently underway. Nearly 30 cars of various makes and models are said to be going up for sale. Paul reportedly collected BMWs, Audis, Mustangs and Porches.
All sales will be made through private high-end brokers, so good luck getting your hands on any of these bad boys!
