There are at least 7 dead after a gunman went on a drive-by shooting rampage in Santa Barbara, near the University of California.

According to Fox News, authorities say that the attacker is included in the death toll, and that the shooting occurred near the student enclave of the school.

The gunman, a 22-year-old named Elliot Rodger, was said to have been driving a black BMW, and was alone at the scene, and seven other people were wounded on top of the seven who were killed. One had to have surgery for “life-threatening injuries.”

The site reports:

Brown said written and videotaped preliminary evidence indicates that this was a “premeditated mass murder.

Brown said the suspect exchanged gunfire with deputies and then drove off and crashed into a park car.

Deputies found the suspect inside the BMW dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The sheriff said he did not know if the suspect was shot and killed by deputies or if the wound was self-inflected. A semiautomatic handgun was recovered from the scene.

There is speculation by authorities that Rodger is the son of Peter Rodger, who is the associate director of The Hunger Games.

Authorities are also investigating a video that Elliot posted called “Elliot Rodger’s Retribution,” where he talks about women rejecting him.

He also took to social media multiple times to talk about his “loneliness, rejection, and unfulfilled desires” from females, and how they prefer  “obnoxious brutes” to him, “the supreme gentlemen.”

In the video, he addresses the audience:

“College is the time when everyone experiences those things such as sex and fun and pleasure. But in those years I’ve had to rot in loneliness. It’s not fair. You girls have never been attracted to me. I don’t know why you girls aren’t attracted to me. But I will punish you all for it.

“I’m going to enter the hottest sorority house of UCSB and I will slaughter every single spoilt, stuck-up, blonde s**t that I see inside there. All those girls that I’ve desired so much, they would’ve all rejected me and looked down on me as an inferior man if I ever made a sexual advance towards them.”

Rodgers’ cause of death is unknown, as he was discovered to have a gunshot wound in his head, but authorities are unsure if he or an officer fired the shot that killed him.

We will keep you posted with updates, as we keep the affected families in ur prayers.
