Video of a Cleveland police officer fatally shooting a 12-year-old for holding a fake gun over the weekend reveal a disturbing and shocking detail.

The officer, identified as rookie Timothy Lowman, 26, shot Tamir Rice immediately after jumping out of the patrol car, which was still moving when police pulled up to the child. The other officer has been identified as 46-year-old Frank Garmack.

The graphic video contains no audio.

The video showed Wednesday by police captures the Saturday afternoon shooting at a West Side recreation center in which 12-year-old Rice was shot.

Police were sent to the Cudell Recreation Center at Detroit Avenue and West Boulevard about 3:30 p.m. when someone called 9-1-1 to report a “guy with a gun pointing it at people.”

The caller told dispatchers twice that the gun was “probably fake,” but that detail was not relayed to the responding officers, Follmer said.

The tape comes after claims that police asked the child to raise his hands. The video, however, shows otherwise.

Tamir’s death was ruled a homicide by a medical examiner. This story is developing.
