On my way to being a Puma aka Cougar-in-training? 

 

So I’m seeing a 21 yr. old… does that make me a bad person?  Am I a cougar? No, that’s if your over 40.  Am I a puma?  No, that’s if your over 30.  I’m 28 yrs. old and for some reason people are giving me a hard time that the guy I’m dating is 21.  Why?  Who knows.  It’s only 7 years difference.  If I were 48 and he was 41 would it even be a big deal?  No.  For whatever reason, society has placed certain  restrictions on age in dating. 

 

I was curious to see what Wikipedia had to say about the subject matter and came across a very interesting rule. The ‘half-your-age-plus-seven rule’ is a rule of thumb used by some in Western cultures defining a mathematical formula to judge whether the age difference in an intimate relationship is socially acceptable. Mathematically speaking, the rule is:

 

This formula defines the minimum dating age as 14.  I even found a graph that represents this rule! 

 

I’m just curious to know who actully sat down in a room and put this together?  Lol!  It’s almost comical to me how people place such limitations on our society.
