Dr. Dre and Eminem first appeared as the dynamic duo that would change up hip-hop with the debut of the Slim Shady LP in 1999. It was an unique juxtaposition between the two because prior to Eminem there hadn’t been a white rapper in hip-hop that listeners took as a serious emcee and not just a gimmick. The Beastie Boys were a bit too clean compared to Eminem’s rhymes and we couldn’t put Eminem in a box with Vanilla Ice either.

So, like good patients, we trusted Dr. Dre with our ears and became avid listeners of Eminem. And he became famous and his success continued to grow far beyond any of us could have ever imagined. One year later, the  hip-hop world was still buzzing from Slim Shady raps and still following the good doctor’s orders. In September of 2000, Dr. Dre and Eminem first appeared together on the cover of VIBE magazine for their 7th Annual Juice Issue. The duo was touted as the top most influential people.  Ten years later, as Eminem has gone on to release albums and as we still wait patiently for Dr. Dre’s Detox, things haven’t changed.
