Over the weekend, three-time NBA world champion Dwyane Wade popped the question to actress Gabrielle Union and he must’ve liked it a lot, because he put a 8.5-carat ring on it.
Jason Arasheben (CEO of Jason of Beverly Hills diamond specialists) tells Us Weekly that Gabby’s ring is “valued at nearly 1 million dollars,” complete with a cushion-cut stone for the 40-year-old beauty. He also revealed:
“I made 3 separate personal visits to Miami to present different options until we found the perfect stone. Dwyane had been planning it for months and was very particular to find the stone of Gabrielle’s dreams.”
While speaking on the engagement for the first time, Dwyane told The Associated Press that his sons and nephew helped plan it (his son Zion held a sign with her name, his nephew Dahveon held a sign that read “Will you,” and his son Zaire held a sign that read “Marry us?”) and though his future wife is a simple lady at heart, he had to get her an amazing ring that spoke for itself.
“I kind of know my lady. I know she’s simple, but at the same time, I just wanted the rock to kind of speak for itself and not do too much with the diamonds. I think it’s a simple ring, but it’s nice. It was nicely done … it’s timeless.”
He continued:
“Just a regular Saturday. My kids were involved in it. We asked her to marry all of us, not just me. We’re a package deal, so it was cool.”
His Miami Heat teammate LeBron James had these kind words to say:
“It took a lot for him to do it. But I think Gab is perfect for him. I think D-Wade is perfect for Gab. For them to be at one now and for their whole family to come together, man, I think it’s amazing. It’s another step for him. I thought it was pretty cool. I’m all for it. I’m happy for them.”
