A California dad followed his 9-year-old autistic son onto a school bus and attacked a student identified as his child’s bully.

Burnis Hurd, 44, is now being charged with felony child abuse and corporal injury to a child.

“The father grabbed the 11-year old by the hair, pulled hard and raised the child out of his seat, then shoved him on the side of the bus where the window meets the wall,” says Richmond police Lt. Mark Gagan.

The 11-year old was cut on his earlobe and has a wound on his cheek. Gagan also said that Hurd threatened to kill the boy and used threatening language towards other students on the bus. The Richmond, California authorities have reported that Hurd was intoxicated during the attack.

Both of the boys attend a special education program at Wilson elementary school in Richmond. The attack was not caught on camera and the bus driver apparently didn’t intervene or call authorities following the incident. The 11-year-old boy went to the principal, who called the police.

“I want [Burnis] to be prosecuted to the fullest,” says Shanika Moses, the aunt & guardian of the 11-year-old boy.

Hurd is being held on $50,000 bond.
