While the fight within the Gaza conflict might be far from over, silence has finally fallen onto the city as a 12-hour ceasefire has begun this morning at 6 A.M., U.K. time.
According to reports, hundreds of residents have returned to see the horrific damage in the Palestinian region, with the Health Ministry reporting that one family faced 18 deaths amongst its members.
The Daily Mail reports:
Neighbours of the Al-Najar family, which the Health Ministry said had been trapped inside their house in Khuzaa village east of Khan Younis since Thursday, watched as rescue workers removed bodies from the rubble of their home using a mechanical digger.
The LA Times also reports that nearly 85 bodies have been pulled from the rubble on the Gaza strip, where they have been laying for days since the conflict became violent.

Even during the pause in fighting, the crackle of gunfire could be heard sporadically and drones circled overhead. But by afternoon, no major new battles had broken out.
The two sides had agreed to the hiatus at the urging of Secretary of State John F. Kerry and other mediators, although an attempt to forge a weeklong halt to the fighting fell short.
