A 7-year-old girl from Detroit is in critical condition after getting caught in the middle of a shooting while riding her bike.
According to the Daily Mail, India Williams was shot during a high-speed car chase involving two groups that were playing a dice game not too far from Charest. Witnesses say India was outside riding her bicycle when she was shot.
A 7-year-old girl riding her bike Sunday evening along the sidewalk in her northeast Detroit neighborhood was critically injured when gunfire erupted between two vehicles, one chasing the other at high speeds, police said.
Family members said the fighting was over a game of dice a couple of blocks away, which police would not confirm. According to family, one of the two cars knocked over a garbage can shortly before India Williams was shot a few houses from her home, just south of 8 Mile and east of I-75.
India’s great-uncle called her the sweetest girl ever.
“We’re hurt,” said a great-uncle who would not give his name or say anything more.
Police have yet to identify the individuals in the shooting. Our prayers are with India and her family during this difficult time.
