For the first time in more than 100 days, Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo. police officer who shot unarmed teenager Michael Brown, came out of hiding to tell the world his side of the story.

In a Tuesday night interview with Good Morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos, Wilson justified the shooting of Brown, adding that he didn’t regret a thing.

The officer said he was “shocked” during his scuffle with the 18-year-old. He also says this was the first time he fired his gun in his career.

“In your whole career you always know it’s a possibility,” he said. “You never think it’s going to happen. You never really think you’re going to have to use your gun and there’s not a cop out there that says, “You know what? I think I’m gonna use my gun today.’ No one wants to and it just happened in a minute.”

While he feels sorry for a life lost, Wilson admitted that he wouldn’t have done anything differently, including shooting Brown during the altercation with the teenager and his friend Dorian Johnson. Wilson said he felt fear and his “training” took over.

And get this: In the interview, Wilson revealed that he is expecting a child with his wife, also a Ferguson police officer, who he wed just this month. The 28-year-old even laughed as he reminisced about growing a beard and called the experience “stressful.”
