Once again Insecure has delivered! Episode 2 of Season 3 was an amazing look at Daniel and Issa’s relationship. You saw firsthand Daniel’s insecurities and for once, saw how Issa was there to help him for a change. It was an amazing turn of events for anyone who has been watching the show over the last two seasons. As usual, the show’s soundtrack was absolutely perfect and helped in the delivery of each scene in an amazing way. Since the episode was all about Issa and Daniel being frustrated with not being able to follow their dreams, the soundtrack for the episode was primarily themed around getting to the money. Raphael Saadiq did an amazing job with the music choice.

Brenmar – “Like A Hoe”
New York and Miami based, by way of Chicago, Brenmar represents a strange musical paradox. 2014’s self-released High End Times Vol. 1 – one of SPIN’s Best Overlooked Albums of 2014 – put him in the spotlight as a groundbreaking maestro for artists like Mykki Blanco, Sasha Go Hard, and Junglepussy. For his last official EP released in 2015, Brenmar entrusted the project to his friend A-Trak by signing with Brooklyn-based Fool’s Gold Records.

Opal ft. Sunny Moonshine – “Coco Miyaki”
Born in Chicago, raised in L.A. and currently based in Virginia, OPAL’s sound is described as alternative R&B. OPAL also designs clothing.
Tierra Whack – “Pretty Ugly”
Everyone has been talking about 23-year-old Tierra Whack. She recently released her 15 track album Whack World in May 2018.
Drakeo The Ruler ft. AllBlack – “Blamped”
Los Angeles-based rapper, Drakeo, rose to prominence after being featured on DJ Mustard’s 2015 hit “Mr. Get Dough.” He also went viral for his mixtape I Am Mr. Mosely 2.
Ill Camille ft. Amaru – “Slip Away”
Ill Camille of Compton, CA has opened up for and worked with several notable rappers, including Frank Nitt, Damani, Pete Rock, Jean Grae, and Jay Rock. She performed this song live on Insecure. Can you believe this song is 5 years old?
YBN Nahmir – “Rubbin Off The Paint”
“Rubbin Off the Paint” is the debut single by 18-year-old Birmingham, Alabama rapper YBN Nahmir. YBN Nahmir founded the YBN collective which has artists YBN Almighty Jay and YBN Cordae.
The Internet – “It Gets Better (With Time)”
The Internet, which consists of consists of Syd, Matt Martians, Patrick Paige II, Christopher Smith, and Steve Lacy, has released four studio albums and three EPs since their formation in 2011.
Derrius Logan – “You Can Tell.”
Anna Wise – “Easy”
“Easy” is the first song from the official Insecure season 3 soundtrack and was produced by Raphael Saadiq himself.
