According to the Associated Press, Mohammed is currently engaging in a standoff with French law enforcement at a French Toulouse house. He has told French authorities that he was a mujahedeen and a member of al-Qaeda.

In exchange for a walkie-talkie, Mohammed has surrendered his .45 handgun to authorities. However, authorities say he has more weaponry in his possession such as a mini-Uzi 9 mm machine pistol.

France’s Interior Minister Claude Gueant is at the scene and has provided information regarding Mohammed saying:

“He claims to be a Mujahedeen and to belong to al-Qaeda. He wanted revenge for the Palestinian children and he also wanted to take revenge on the French army because of its foreign interventions. We cannot be sure he will surrender, but we are confident the suspect is the man who carried out the killings in Montauban and Toulouse.”

French intelligence reported Mohammed, a French-Algerian, has received insurgency training in Pakistan and spent a considerable amount of time in Afghanistan.

France’s intelligence agencies were able to locate Mohammed after finding out the location of his getaway scooter used during his suspected murders.

Since the start of the standoff, authorities have detained Mohammed’s brother and mother.
