I am a father. Every day it seems like my daughters become more adult that I ever imagined. I can’t imagine what went through my mother’s head while she was raising me, but thank God she never uploaded a video of her beating me for the world to see like this father did with the above video.
I remember the time when my cousin spent the weekend at my house. We decided to play WWE and I suplexed him on the couch breaking one of my mothers most precious possessions. We didn’t have much so I knew I was in trouble.
My mother came home, grabbed the thickest belt she could find then proceeded to beat the crap out of us. I cried as the leather strap cut through the air and landed on my skin like big mama just slapped down the big joker in a game of spades. My mother, furiou,s lifted the belt to the sky and proceeded to come down on my naked legs like rain water pounding the shore during Hurricane Sandy, but before the raw cow hide connected with my skin I grabbed the belt.
My tears mixed with snot as my mother told me to let go of the belt but I refused. My little cousin laughed. She smacked him in his mouth. I laughed. Uncontrollably. Laughed and laughed but the jokes didn’t let me release the belt. Needless to say the beatings stopped.
It was that day that I promised never to beat my kids. Welts grew on my leg like weeds on a lawn untended, but eventually they disappeared. Momma offered us ice cream or McDonalds. The parental remorse kicked in. “If your teacher asked you about that bruise tell them you fell down the stairs,” she told us. Other days when I got beat it was “Go ahead tell the cop they gonna come and take you away and I’ll be free!” I didn’t want to leave my momma!
But while the beatings were cruel I do think we deserved it. We learned our lesson. Plus my mother didn’t have to use the belt on me more than a few times. I learned my lesson quick!
With that said, I am still not for beating my kids. If they do something wrong I make them write sections of the New York Times. I find that a lot more effective than putting a switch to a child’s ass.
But parents today are going to the extreme. They are doing more cruel things to their children. Things like beating them with straps and filming it in order to embarrass them on Facebook, Twitter and WorldStarHipHop by posting the videos online.

An uncle frustrated and trying to save his nephew from the clutches of the gangs, whooped his nephew for posting gang talk on his Facebook page. While it might have seemed effective, sadly the boy was later gunned down losing his life to gang violence.
While this father didn’t beat his son, he did put his son all the way on blast for wearing a pair of skinny jeans. Talk about embarrassing.
Judge William Adams repeatedly beat his daughter with a leather strap, for downloading a game or a song. His daughter who is disabled secretly recorded the video to expose the abuse she took at the hands of her father and mother.
