Gunshots erupted last night in Oklahoma City following the Lakers’ devastating defeat at the hands of the OKC Thunder in the NBA Playoffs. Eight people were wounded as thousands of spectators left the playoff game only a few blocks away.

According to the Associated Press, Captain Dexter Nelson said the cause of the incident is unclear.

“All we’re hearing from witnesses is there was pushing and shoving in the area. Apparently a group of girls got into it with a group of guys. It was shortly there after gunfire erupted.”

Emergency Medical Service spokeswoman Laura O’Leary said seven people were hospitalized for gun shot wounds, and one pregnant woman was taken to the hospital after being assaulted in the scuffle. Six of the gunshot victims are in good condition and one is in critical condition.

It’s not clear if anyone involved had even attended the game. Nelson added:

“It doesn’t appear that what happened had anything to do with the game.”

No arrests have been made, but police are working with nearby businesses that may have security footage of the incident to track down the suspects.
