With young Willow Smith‘s very edgy and grown up sense of style and fashion; she’s often the center of talk, rumors and speculation.
Recently, the 11-year-old “I Am Me” singer chit-chatted with Michael Yo, explaining just where her inspiration comes from. She explains:

“It actually kind of comes from my dog because I die her hair.”
Willow, who has gone from whipping her long locks, to rocking a short buzz cut, to even wearing a fake tongue ring, doesn’t let the criticism get to her. The bold young Hollywood star tells Michael:
“If I know what’s true in my heart and my soul, then what people say can’t shape that. I can say, “I don’t have a fake tongue ring,” and they’ll be like, “aw, she covered it up!” People have their own thing regardless. And, that is totally okay with me. If you don’t like me, if you like me; both are equally cool. I send love and positive energy to all those people in their lives. I hope they find where they’re meant to be.”

In her new single, “I Am Me,” which she premiered at the 2012 BET Awards, Willow expresses just how comfortable she is with her own freedom in style. She says:
“I was playing on the piano one day, just messing around and I came around these cords that I really like. I played it for my mom and dad, they recorded it. They sent it to my vocal coach, he played it, made it to a track, then I wrote the song with Sia.”
Wow! We must say, for an 11-year-old, Willow’s making pretty big moves, without letting the haters get to her!
