Meet Smokey Robotic.

The rising electro-soul foursome, Seer, Father Dude, !llmind, and Konrad OldMoney, are creating a huge buzz with the new genre they’re producing called “SuperFuture.”

“SuperFuture” may sound grandiose, because technically it is. Smokey Robotic combines electronic music with their own funky soulful blends of hip-hop infused melodies and arrangements.

If the alias Smokey Robotic sounds mechanical, it’s because the group is literally a music machine. Composed of two singer-songwriters, Seer and Father Dude, and two production creatives, !llmind and Konrad OldMoney, Smokey Robotic is a creative collective trying to take music to the next level.

GlobalGrind caught up with these rising stars to talk about their recent project Musium, making waves in the music industry, and their philosophies on life.

With a mantra like, “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us,” it’s clear these guys aren’t afraid of much except for their own capabilities.

Check out our exclusive interview with Smokey Robotic below, and watch the exclusive premiere of their brand new video “Lord” up top.

GlobalGrind: How did Smokey Robotic get together? Tell us about Smokey Robotic the Mascot.

SEER: I was working with each member of Smokey prior to the group being formed. I played !llmind the music I was making with Father Dude and Konrad OldMoney and he suggested we form a group. He told me to choose the members and that was that.

Smokey Robotic is a two-foot robot/creature who came out of a jukebox in 1972. He was sent to earth by his mother, Astronaut Queen, to remind humans of who they truly are; to help them find their true light and shine.

You all are deeper than the average artist. What does music mean to you?

SEER: Everything. Music is the medium in which I think, feel and dream. I live to create and perform music.

FATHER DUDE: It’s always been my most important PASSION in life. Throughout, it has been something I haven’t “tried” to do, but something I can’t stop doing and never will.

!LLMIND: It’s life… it’s everything…

What’s your perspective on pop music today?

SEER: There’s some great stuff out there musically. Definitely inspired by a lot of the new production. Content-wise, it’s pretty cardboard bland to be honest.

FATHER DUDE: It’s the same as it is in any era. Someone sets a trend and everyone follows to cash in. Let’s just say we’re not here for the payday.

!LLMIND: Some of it is great, some of it isn’t…

KONRAD OLDMONEY: Same as it was yesterday… Neither here nor there.

What’s Smokey Robotic’s philosophy on life?

SEER: “Be yourself.” Which sounds simple… but is very hard to do.

FATHER DUDE: “Sitting on your ass and worrying ain’t gonna get you nowhere!”

!LLMIND: “Spread love…”

KONRAD OLDMONEY: Women.

Who inspires Smokey Robotic musically?

SEER: Otis Redding x Jimmy Cliff x Andre 3000 x Yelawolf

FATHER DUDE: I have a super wide spectrum, but a few are Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, Stevie Wonder, Faith No More, Mr. Mister and Earth, Wind & Fire.

!LLMIND: The awesome talented people around me…

KONRAD OLDMONEY: My mother, my brothers in Smokey Robotic, and a whole whackload of dancehall artists.

What’s your most vivid childhood memory?

SEER: Being given the moon and giving it back.

FATHER DUDE: I remember sitting with my father’s turntable on the floor, watching it spin Dave Mason’s “Misty Morning Stranger” and pretending that I hated it for some reason, but knew I had just fallen in love with music.

!LLMIND: Dancing until completely drenched in sweat anytime a Michael Jackson song came on… I was 3 years old.

KONRAD OLDMONEY:  A garage in my backyard that was riddled with kittens… That’s where I would catch new pets to take home, via a string with a sausage tied to it… no joke.

Do you guys have any fears?

SEER: Losing interest.

FATHER DUDE: Dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark, they shoot bees at you.

!LLMIND: Nothing.

KONRAD OLDMONEY: Women.

How is Smokey Robotic different from other rising artists?

SEER: We are courageous in our creative exploration. Our music is free of fear and boundaries. The lyrics are honest. Our shows make the women in your family go crazy.

FATHER DUDE: We found a vehicle that allows us to be our weird-ass selves and got really good at it. It’s just us and you can’t copy that.

!LLMIND: The 4 of us come from completely different walks of life, but somehow manage to possess a special chemistry, which shows in the music…

Do you guys remember your last dream?

SEER: Something about a tiger on a cloud.

FATHER DUDE: I just woke up (just now), so… yes. It was a dream about dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark, they shoot bees at you.

!LLMIND: Nah…

KONRAD OLDMONEY: I had laser eyes and I used them to cut buildings in half.

What’s Smokey Robotic’s favorite book? And do you remember the last book you read?

SEER: “If on a winter’s night a traveler” by Italo Calvino; “The Sirens of Titan” by Kurt Vonnegut.

FATHER DUDE:  One of my favorite books is “How to win friends and influence people” by Dale Carnegie…kind of necessary if you don’t plan on living as the Unabomber. I am currently reading Clive Barker’s “Mister B. Gone.”

!LLMIND: Michio Kaku – “Physics Of The Impossible.”

What’s Smokey Robotic’s guilty pleasure?

FATHER DUDE: I’m a sucker for cheesy pop. It’s quite fun to work it into other music without people knowing. That and fast food that probably shouldn’t be inside of humans.

!LLMIND: Ancient aliens on the History channel… I don’t feel guilty at all about it…

KONRAD OLDMONEY: Women.
