I’ve always been a fan of Nitty Scott MC. Her struggle – if you only knew – is realer than most. Trust me, Nitty’s more than an MC and to top it off, Ab-Soul is certified dope with wordplay on par with any relevant hip-hop artist in today’s rap game. His knowledge of hip-hop’s historical MC’s and rhyme battles could rival even that of Grand Master Caz. Needless to say, Nitty and Ab together on the same track is an underground hip-hop head’s pipe dream. Peep her latest gem “Apex” featuring the homie Ab Soul.

B.o.B has been teasing fans for the last few months by popping up as a feature on several artists’ new tracks. It seems like Bobby Ray has saved the best goodies for himself though. His new song “Get It” is sort of reminiscent of a 60’s Jimi Hendrix rock track crossed with a touch a Dre 3000 ingeniousness. B.o.B’s clever 80 mph wordplay bounces between the guitar riffs and snares faster then Chinese digital ping pong. Enjoy.

I heard Future’s new record “Good Morning” got a huge reaction at last weekend’s SXSW music festival in Austin. It’s only right as Future has re-invented himself, at least so it seems. 2013 was definitely a great year for the hottest Haitian in music since Wyclef and with a new label, new artist, and new music to boot, 2014 looks to be bigger than ever for Future.

Keyshia Cole is back from her hiatus with theme music for all the ladies with broken hearts and venom to spare (and spit). Her latest joint, “Rick James,” is the appetizer for what looks to be a great meal of a new album due to come soon. This is different for her as she takes Dave Chappelle’s infamous Rick James namesake and immortalizes it – as only she can – in this male ego quencher of a song. My guess is that this is dedicated to her ex-boobie….

Ms. Cole isn’t the only one dealing with ex- drama. Big Boi from OutKast recently dealt with some marriage woes himself. His new song “Part Time Hater” details those struggles but offers an interesting solution. “Part Time Hater” takes the idea from Stevie Wonder’s 80’s hit “Part Time Lover” and does what only hip-hop music can do – recreate while adding a different touch to a classic.
