Five weeks after University of Virginia student Hannah Graham disappeared, police have found what appears to be human remains. The World Health Organization has confirmed that Senegal is free of the deadly virus, Ebola. There was only one case, which occurred at the end of August when a patient flew in from Guinea. When the case was confirmed, Senegal government’s response plan included “identifying and monitoring 74 close contacts of the patient, prompt testing of all suspected cases, stepped-up surveillance at the country’s many entry points.” It looks like they’re plan of action worked. Texas election representatives are now enforcing a controversial voter identification law opposed by the Obama administration, which means “hundreds of thousands of eligible voters in Texas will be unable to participate in November’s election because Texas has erected an obstacle course designed to discourage voting,” according to the President of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. A spokeswoman from the Texas attorney general thinks otherwise: “voter ID laws are a legal and sensible way to protect the integrity of elections.” [CNN]

This is so sad. A 3-year-old toddler was beaten to death by her mother’s boyfriend this past Saturday. Cops found Jeida Torres unconscious and unresponsive at 5:30 p.m after neighbors called the police, as they heard the child screaming inside of the apartment. The little girl was punched and choked by 20-year-old Kelsey Smith, the boyfriend who was babysitting her and her 5-year-old brother Andrew. She was immediately rushed to Brooklyn’s Wyckoff hospital while in cardiac arrest and suffering  severe head & bodily injuries, but didn’t survive. Andrew was also covered in bruises. We pray for the Torres family. [Daily News]
