Two of the biggest companies in the food industry have issued recalls for their popular items.
Trader Joe’s recalled five different brands of walnuts after discovering the batches may have traces of salmonella. The company announced Tuesday that the bags, which have a best buy date of December 2015, were potentially exposed to the deadly germ.
Until the company determines the source of the problem, they have strongly suggested that customers get rid of the following products:
- Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Walnut Pieces (16 ounces)
- Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Walnut Halves & Pieces (16 ounces)
- Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Walnut Baking Pieces (16 ounces)
- Trader Joe’s Nuts Raw California Premium Walnut Halves (16 ounces)
- Trader Joe’s Organic Raw Walnut Halves & Pieces (12 ounces) – and with “best buy” dates spanning Oct. 15, 2015 through Dec. 1, 2015.
While tossing bags of walnuts away, feel free to add Kraft’s Macaroni & Cheese to the list. The company announced that 240,000 boxes of the popular kids’ meal may contain metal. Kraft released a statement Tuesday stating single and packaged boxes are also at risk.
The product has a sell by date of September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015.
The four products include: 7.25 oz. box, Original flavor
- 3-pack box of those 7.25 oz. boxes, Original flavor
- 4-pack shrink-wrap of those 7.25 oz. boxes, Original flavor
- 5-pack shrink-wrap of those 7.25 oz. boxes, Original flavor
Kraft also added that the packages were sent to Puerto Rico, South American countries, and a few islands in the Caribbean.
So far, no injures have been reported for either item.
