The Heineken 2011 Black History Month program kicks off this year’s campaign with artwork by acclaimed hip-hop artist Justin BUA, with a call to action for artist submissions for the campaign in 2012. Born in 1968 in NYC’s Upper West Side and raised between Manhattan and East Flatbush, Brooklyn, BUA was fascinated by the raw, visceral street life of the city. He turned that into his own distinct style, “New Urban Realism’ and a commercial art career that had him designing skateboards, album covers, video game covers for NBA and NFL Street and the world of Slum Village’s award winning music video “Tainted.”

Heineken is partnering with Words, Beats & Life to launch a national Black History Month art contest, in search for an up-and-coming artist to feature in the 2012 Heineken Black History Month Advertising Campaign. The winner will receive $5,000 and their artwork will be featured across national print, and digital media in 2012. The contest kicks off on February 1st. Aspiring artists are encouraged to upload their original artwork on the Heineken RedStar Facebook page for the first three weeks of February 2011.

Check out the two Heineken posters created by BUA and some selections from his incredible collection of work.
