It’s that time of the week when I climb atop my soap box and drop hip-pop gems on the world. Today is no different. Earlier this week I talked to one of the most influential men in music, Simon Cowell. The interview will run in it’s entirety later this week.

Cowell is getting ready to hold auditions for the first American incarnation of his successful talent competition, “X-Factor.” The audition process begins on Sunday, March 27th in Los Angeles. I asked him about Nicki Minaj, whose name is being thrown around as a potential judge. According to Simon Cowell, Ms. Minaj is just terrific.

Simon reveals, “We’ve met Nicki and what we have to decide now, we’ve got two places left. And now L.A.’s come into the mix, so he’s got an opinion. We talked to the sponsors, to the network, to the producers. And we’ve got a few in the mix and we have to choose two people from that. We did meet with Nicki and she was terrific.”

Nicki could be streaming into our living rooms on a regular basis pretty soon!

Next, I’d like to take this time to say rest in peace to Elizabeth Taylor. If you want to catch up on who she was and her body of work, then you’ll be happy to know that Turner Classic Movies has announced that it will pay tribute to Elizabeth Taylor with a 24-hour movie marathon next month.

“Scream 4” is about to be released and this clip from the movie is only making me want to see it more. Check out GlobalGrind’s first look at the recently released clip starring Neve Campbell and Emma Roberts.

Sony Pictures Classic and director Morgan Spurlock (“Super Size Me”) have released a new trailer from his upcoming documentary, “The Greatest Movie Ever Sold.” This documentary has sparked my interest, particularly when Nadar says, the only time we aren’t getting sold something is when we are asleep. I can’t wait to see this one.
