First Lady Michelle Obama must be pulling her hair out after she got wind of the news that Mississippi was crowned the fattest state in the country.

A well known advocate of healthy living and exercise, Mrs. Obama couldn’t possibly like the results found by the Trust for America’s Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Mrs. Obama needs to fly down south and whip those Mississippians into shape.

The thing is, adult obesity rates have increased in 16 states during the past year and none of the 50 states showed any signs of slowing down on their food intake.

What’s even more interesting is that every state, with the exception of Michigan, is in the southern region, which means that good old southern cooking may be good, but it sure is fattening. America is getting fatter with every inch.

Let’s see who rounded out the list of fattest states in the country.

Mississippi:

The “Feels Like Coming Home” State is number one with french fries, where 34.4 percent of the people are obese.

Alabama:

Bama, the “Share Your Wonder” state, is number two. 32.3 percent of the people are obese.

West Virginia:

West Virgina, the “Open for Business” state, is number three. 32.2 percent of the people are obese.

Tennessee:

The Titan state comes in at number four. 31.9 percent of the people are obese.

Louisiana:

The “Come as you are, leave different” state is number five where 31.6 percent of the people are obese. Looks like you WILL leave different after you leave Louisiana.

Kentucky:

The Blue Grass state ranks number six, where 31.5 percent of the people are obese.

Oklahoma:

Oklahoma maybe the “OK” state, but 31.4 percent of the people are obese.

South Carolina:

There’s nothing but “Smiling Faces, Beautiful Places” in S.C., but many of those smiling faces, 30.9 percent, are obese.

Arkansas:

The Natural State ranks number nine, where 30.6 percent of the people are obese.

Michigan:

The Great Lakes State rounds out the ten fattest states in America, where 30.5 percent of the people are obese.
